National Defence Academy (NDA) is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces. The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts a national level exam called as NDA Exam. This exam is held for the candidates who want to join Indian Defence Forces (Army, Navy & Air Force). Every year many aspirants come forward to take this exam. **Algebra:** Complex numbers – basic properties, modulus, Conversion of a number in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa, Arithmetic, argument, cube roots of unity, Geometric and Harmonic progressions, Solution of linear inequations of two variables by graphs, Representation of real numbers on a line, Binary system of numbers, Binomial theorem and its application, Quadratic equations with real coefficients, Permutation and Combination, Logarithms and their applications.

**Integral Calculus and Differential equations: **Integration by substitution and by parts, trigonometric, Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples, exponential and hyperbolic functions, solution of first order and first degree differential equations of various types – examples, standard integrals involving algebraic expressions, Evaluation of definite integrals – determination of areas of plane regions bounded by curves – applications, General and particular solution of a differential equation, Integration as inverse of differentiation, Application in problems of growth and decay.

**English:** The English syllabus covers the topics like vocabulary, Grammar and usage, comprehension and cohesion in extended text to test the candidate’s proficiency in English.

**Part – B**

**General Knowledge:** The question paper comprises of general knowledge and covers the subjects that include Physics, Chemistry, Social Studies, General Science, Geography and Current Events.

### Is NDA hard?

**The NDA exam is difficult**; however, it is not so difficult if the candidates start preparing from an early stage. If the students get to start the preparation just after the board exams then the chances of their success are far better. The right kind of books and study material also help them in their preparation.

### Can I join NDA after 12th?

**Only male candidates in the age group 16.5-19.5 can** join NDA after the 12th. Those who successfully apply for UPSC NDA will have to appear in the NDA exam and qualify for it. Post qualifying in the NDA candidates will have to go through a course for the initial 3 years.

### Is there any negative marking in NDA Examination 2021?

In NDA Examination, **There will be negative marking for every wrong answer**. One third (1/3) of marks will be deducted from 1 mark. Every correct answer will be awarded 1 marks.

### How many stages are there in the NDA exam?
